  • 1 3/4 cups apple juice
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste (or vanilla extract)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples by coring and chopping them into large chunks. Add them to a large pot with apple juice and apple cider vinegar. Bring to a boil.
  2. Once the apples soften after about 30 minutes, stir in brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
  3. Blend until smooth using an immersion blender or transfer to a blender.
  4. Return the mixture to the pot and cook uncovered over medium heat for another 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.
  5. Serve warm on toast or store in jars for later enjoyment.
