  • ½ tsp grated nutmeg
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or self-raising)
  • 1 cup porridge oats
  • 125 g cold butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (375°F).
  2. Peel, core, and chop the apples into bite-sized pieces. Place them in a baking dish and mix with flour, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  3. In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cold butter, and salt. Rub together until crumbly.
  4. Spread the crumble topping over the apple mixture.
  5. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm.
