  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup + 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted and cooled)
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
  • 1/3 cup pecans (chopped)
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 2-quart casserole dish.
  2. In a bowl, sift together both flours, baking powder, salt, granulated sugar, and spices.
  3. In another bowl, mix pumpkin puree, milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Combine wet ingredients with dry ingredients until just mixed; pour into the prepared dish.
  5. For the topping, mix sugars and pecans; sprinkle over the batter.
  6. Pour hot water over the topping without stirring.
  7. Bake for approximately 40 minutes until set in the center.
  8. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving.
