  • 10 cups cubed sourdough or French bread
  • 1 large onion, finely diced

  • 2 tbsp fresh sage, chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 4 cups low-sodium chicken or vegetable broth
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cube the bread into bite-sized pieces. If not stale, lightly toast in the oven.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and sauté the onion and celery until tender.
  3. Stir in the fresh herbs and cook for an additional minute.
  4. In a large bowl, combine sautéed vegetables with bread cubes and gradually add broth while mixing gently. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Transfer to a greased baking dish and cover with foil. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes. Remove foil for the last 15 minutes to achieve a golden crust.
