  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons instant espresso powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon table salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons instant coffee granules
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 inch pan with foil and spray it with nonstick baking spray.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter and dark cocoa powder until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, beat granulated sugar, eggs, instant espresso powder, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy. Mix in the chocolate butter mixture.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine salt, baking powder, and all-purpose flour. Gradually fold into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Spread brownie batter evenly in the prepared pan and bake for 25-28 minutes or until slightly sticky when tested with a toothpick.
  6. While cooling, prepare the coffee cream by dissolving instant coffee granules in heavy whipping cream.
  7. Beat softened butter and salt until creamy; gradually add powdered sugar along with coffee cream until light and fluffy.
  8. Frost cooled brownies generously with the coffee frosting and top with melted dark chocolate mixed with heavy cream.
  9. Allow to set before cutting into squares.
