  • 200 g apples (grated)
  • 110 g vegetable oil (room temperature)
  • 2 eggs (room temperature)
  • 140 g sour cream (14-18% room temperature)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 100 g butter (room temperature)
  • 165 g powdered sugar
  • 23 tsp caramel
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the homemade salted caramel sauce by cooking granulated sugar with water until it turns amber, then adding butter, heavy cream, and salt.
  2. In one bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and allspice.
  3. In another bowl, combine granulated sugar, dark brown sugar, grated apples, vegetable oil, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla; mix until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  5. Bake the batter in a greased cake pan at 350°F (180°C) for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. For the buttercream frosting, beat room-temperature butter with powdered sugar before adding caramel sauce and vanilla extract.
