  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 4 sub rolls
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 8 slices turkey bacon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Form the mixture into meatballs about 1.5 inches in diameter.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown the meatballs on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Return meatballs to the skillet and pour BBQ sauce over them; simmer for about 10 minutes.
  6. Slice sub rolls lengthwise and toast them in the oven for about 5 minutes.
  7. Assemble subs by placing meatballs inside each toasted roll and topping with cheese and turkey bacon.
  8. Return subs to the oven for another 2-3 minutes until cheese melts.
  9. Serve immediately with extra BBQ sauce on the side.
